I love our new deck!

Our deck is finished. Well almost, just a few finishing touches still needed but we can use it and it is wonderful. The jarrah with the black trims has turned out even better than I had hoped.

It is also much bigger than I imagined and, as it is very high, I feel like I am almost in the clouds! No, I haven't had one wine too many!

Unfortunately our neighbours on one side aren't happy, as our deck has taken some of their view of the mountain from their kitchen window. They have a deck too though, so they would still have their view from there. I talked to them before we had it built and said I hoped it wouldn't upset them and they said we were entitled to have a deck and not to worry. Of course now their feelings have changed. I hope things improve as I don't like having a bad relationship with neighbours!

Our laundry is under the house and I decided to strip wallpaper off it and paint it, so I have been quite busy this week. Have to give it the final coat today. The paint has certainly brightened it up.

Hope you are all well and happy!

WOW that is gorgeous Suzy! I would love to have a deck like that. Try not to worry too much about the neighbours. You did the right thing and asked them in the beginning about it. Can't cry over spilt milk now...

Enjoy it beautiful :-)

Noice! Very noice! I hope to have a deck like that one day too! The neighbours just have to deal with it, it's not like you sprang it on them is it?

I hope things with your neighbours sort themselves out smoothly. Your deck looks fantastic, jarrah is a great, hardy wood, good choice - I'm sure you will have many great times over the years to come because of it! Have a great week Suzy :)

It looks fantastic Suzy. You should be proud. It will stand you in good stead for the drinking season ahead.

And don't worry about the neighbours. They will have to get used to it. Hopefully they will accept that they have had a good run with the view and that you haven't blocked it completely.

Either that or take up topless sunbaking and really give them something to look at ;D

Hope you have a great week

The decking looks awesome!! Hey the neighbours will get over it. It's your house, enjoy it!! If they are too lazy to walk outside to admire the view then bad luck I say!!

the deck looks gorgeous. the neighbours could always move... you did your bit by telling them in the first place which is more than most would have done. Enjoy.

Wow that's stunning - stuff the neighbours if they are going t be selfish - it's not like they don't have a view at all anymore. !

Your deck looks so good! I think the black rails match the deck’s dark stain perfectly. I also like that the planks aren’t in one color, which makes the deck appear natural. I think you picked the perfect furniture too.

Wow! Your deck looks nice. It’s good to spend time there especially if the weather is great. I like the position of your deck; it looks like was shot from a beautiful resort. Hehe! It’s been seven years, so I wonder if you remodeled your deck. Well, I have a wild guess that you did. ;)
